THE INITIAL CONSULTATION
Before any therapy takes place an initial consultation is undertaken in which the presenting problem or issue is discussed and a course of therapeutic action is agreed, including therapeutic approach, number of sessions and cost.
MEDICAL CONSIDERATIONS AND CONTRA-INDICATIONS
Hypnosis is a complimentary therapy and should never be used in place of proper medical attention. However, it is a powerful and effective tool effecting and promoting change and enhancement to health and well-being. There are few medical conditions which react adversely with hypnosis, although in some instances it might be appropriate to inform and liaise with the medical practitioner of the client. Almost everyone who wishes to be hypnotised can achieve a level of relaxation sufficient to allow therapy to take place.
THE HYPNOTIC STATE
As the state of hypnosis is one of lucid deep relaxation it is one which almost everyone is capable of to varying degrees. During the hypnosis session the client is invited to relaxed in a comfortable chair or take a reclining position on a couch, and is then guided into a deep physical and mental relaxation. Whilst in hypnosis the client is aware and awake and capable of decision, perception and communication. Hypnosis is a positive and relaxing state of openness and receptivity.
After the session the client is brought back to full alertness, generally feeling relaxed and calm.
